Traffic hazards

Driving on the Island required strong nerves, and I never saw a Maltese woman behind the driving wheel. Fortunately I had learnt to drive in North Wales, where narrow roads between high hedges tested one’s ability to react quickly when straying animals suddenly appeared around a blind bend, or a tractor drove out of a farm…

Nic with the neighbours

Birkirkara, then a village, now a large town, was home to families who had lived there for generations – no supermarkets, no posh shops, no fancy restaurants, most people still living as they had always lived – up with the dawn and bed as soon as darkness had descended – except on feast days! Her blonde, curly hair and blue eyes certainly grabbed the attention of passers-by and Doris, our…

The review I received of my second memoir, “Almost a Catastrophe!” came as a surprise, when it was published this week on the “To Make Much of Time” blog site. Lovely to hear that they found it “a highly engaging read” and that “the arc of the story is brought to life with fascinating details…

Taking the books for a walk

My daughter still loves walking in the Gwydyr forest and a few months ago, decided to take the books with her! These views are all from a square mile or two of Ty’n yr Ardd, in a beautiful area known as Nant Bwlch yr Haearn.
